Medals Have Come: Uganda Sweeps World Mountain Running Titles in Spain

Canfranc-Pirineos, Spain — Team Uganda delivered a stunning performance at the World Mountain Running Championships in Spain, sweeping medals across multiple events and cementing the country’s reputation as a global athletics powerhouse.

In the men’s junior 7km race, Uganda claimed a historic 1-2-3 finish, with Musau Titus winning gold, Enos Chebet taking silver, and Cherotich Abraham securing bronze.

Uganda’s dominance extended to the women’s junior 7km, where Chepkwurui Nancy and Chepkwemoi Felister claimed silver and bronze, respectively, showcasing the depth of talent in the team.

Adding to the medal haul, Martin Kiprotich delivered a strong run in the 14km Classic race, winning Individual Silver and helping Uganda clinch Team Silver in the same event.

Uganda Athletics Federation celebrated the athletes’ remarkable success on its official platforms, writing: “Proud of you, Team Uganda! Your strength, spirit, and determination on the rugged Canfranc-Pirineos trail inspires us all. Keep carrying the flag high.”
