The creative stage is set for a thrilling showdown as the Uganda Advertising Association (UAA), in partnership with The Loeries, officially launches the 4th Annual Silverback Awards under the rallying theme “Elevating the Grind.”

Now established as East Africa’s most prestigious celebration of creativity in marketing communications, the 2025 edition welcomes not only Uganda’s brightest minds but also invites entries from across the region—including Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda—marking a bold step in expanding the awards’ regional footprint.

Rommel Jasi, Chairman of the Uganda Advertising Association, emphasized the vision behind the awards: “The Silverback Awards were created to push our industry to strive for global greatness. As the official representatives of Cannes Lions in Uganda, we see this as more than just recognition—it’s a launchpad for East African talent to reach world-class standards. From The Loeries to Cannes Lions, we’re building pathways for our creatives to shine on the biggest stages.”

The Silverback Awards aim to inspire, reward, and amplify innovation across disciplines—spanning advertising, branding, PR, digital content, design, and more.

Submissions officially open on August 4th, 2025 via www.silverbackawards.com, with eligible campaigns being those executed between August 1st, 2024, and July 31st, 2025. The deadline for submissions is October 3rd, followed by a rigorous judging process from October 20th to November 6th, led by a distinguished panel of industry experts from across the continent.

In keeping with its mission to nurture future talent, this year’s awards will feature a Youth Creative Challenge, giving young professionals and students an opportunity to showcase their skills in PR, marketing, film, and design from November 11th to 13th.

The awards season will culminate in a Communication Industry Symposium on November 14th, and the much-anticipated Silverback Awards Gala on November 15th, where top performers will be honored with medals, certificates, and valuable internship opportunities.

Preetesh Sewraj, CEO of The Loeries, applauded the integrity and impact of the platform: “With each edition, the Silverback Awards have strengthened their credibility—from the quality of entries to the prestige of the gala night. Our goal is to inspire every creative to dream bigger, think bolder, and consistently raise the bar for excellence.”

The 2025 Silverback Awards are proudly powered by Eskmi, Mobicast, Next Media, Trace East Africa, Uganda Breweries Limited, and Reelforge Analytics.
