The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has officially released the district, county/division, and sub-county/town council statistical profiles from the 2024 National Population and Housing Census (NPHC), offering granular data down to the parish level for the first time in this census cycle.

According to a public statement issued by Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, Executive Director of UBOS, the newly published profiles are critical tools for evidence-based planning, localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and implementing the Parish Development Model (PDM) across Uganda.

The data, clustered by subregions, provide comprehensive baseline statistics and information that will assist government agencies, development partners, researchers, and local authorities in tailoring policies and programs to specific community needs.

The release follows the earlier publication of the Census 2024 Final Report – Volume 1 (Main) on December 31, 2024, which provided national-level insights into Uganda’s population dynamics.

UBOS confirmed that the area profiles are now accessible through its official website and pledged to continue publishing additional thematic reports and monographs to further support national development goals.

“The Bureau remains committed to producing high-quality statistics to support planning, policy, and decision-making,” Dr. Mukiza stated.

The 2024 Census marked Uganda’s 11th national enumeration and was conducted in May 2024. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader push to strengthen data-driven governance and ensure no one is left behind in national development planning.
