The body of Cedric Ndilima Babu, the son of former Kampala Central MP Captain Francis Babu, has been received at Entebbe International Airport ahead of his burial scheduled for Saturday, June 7.
The former tennis star and media personality passed away on Saturday at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi due to heart complications.
From Entebbe, the remains were transferred to Uganda Funeral Services in Bukoto. A vigil will be held at his home in Kololo today and tomorrow (Thursday), as friends, family, and colleagues begin paying their respects to a man remembered for his charisma, sportsmanship, and media legacy.

On Thursday, June 5, a public tribute event organised by the National Council of Sports will take place at Lugogo Indoor Stadium. The event, originally scheduled for 2:00 p.m., will now begin at 11:30 a.m. to accommodate the large number of expected mourners, including sports figures, media personalities, and fans.
On Friday, a requiem mass will be held at Rubaga Cathedral, after which the body will be transported to Kamengo in Mpigi District, where Cedric will be laid to rest on Saturday.
Cedric Babu was a well-known figure in Uganda’s sports and entertainment circles. He hosted “The Cedric Live Show” on UBC and was once president of the Uganda Tennis Association.

Tributes continue to pour in, with many praising his dedication to youth development, his unifying presence on-air, and his efforts to uplift Ugandan sport.
The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), where Cedric once worked, remembered him as a “vibrant force” whose energy and voice brought people together. His death marks a significant loss to both the media and sports communities in Uganda.
