Jinja – The much-anticipated Source of the Nile Half Marathon took centre stage in Jinja, drawing top athletes from across Uganda to compete in one of the country’s premier long-distance running events.
In the women’s 21km race, Chebet Saidi of Uganda Prisons Athletics Club claimed victory, crossing the finish line in an impressive 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 25 seconds.
She was followed closely by Chelangat Annet of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), who secured second place with a time of 1:13:19.
Cheptoyek Ruth of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) took third, finishing in 1:13:39.
The event, organised by the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), continues to showcase the depth of long-distance running talent in the country, with athletes using it as a platform to prepare for international competitions.
