At the invitation of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Somali President H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud paid a one-day official visit to Uganda on February 7, 2025.
Accompanied by Somalia’s Minister of Defence and other officials, President Mohamud engaged in high-level discussions at State House Entebbe.

President Museveni welcomed his Somali counterpart and reaffirmed Uganda’s strong bilateral ties with Somalia, emphasising the importance of continued cooperation.
The two leaders reviewed key regional and international matters, focusing on security in Somalia and the broader Horn of Africa. They underscored the need for sustained efforts to maintain peace and stability across the continent.

Both presidents commended the sacrifices made by Troop and Police Contributing Countries (T/PCCs) to the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and acknowledged the resilience of Somali Security Forces in combating Al-Shabaab since 2007.
President Museveni praised Somalia’s progress in stabilisation, while President Mohamud expressed gratitude for Uganda’s unwavering support and hospitality.

The meeting was attended by senior Ugandan officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen. Jeje Odongo, Minister of State for Veteran Affairs Hon. Huda Oleru, Uganda’s diplomatic representatives in Somalia, and senior military officials, among others.
