Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) reinforced its commitment to responsible drinking and environmental sustainability at the 2024 Bell ObaFest. The three-day festival drew over 6,000 revelers and showcased UBL’s initiatives on moderation, zero tolerance for drunk driving, and eco-friendly waste management.

The event accumulated 2 tonnes of waste, with 56% recycled and 44% repurposed for animal feed, thanks to UBL’s partnership with Asante Waste Management.

UBL’s responsible drinking initiative featured engaging activities, quizzes, and trivia sessions emphasizing the importance of moderation. In partnership with Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, UBL distributed 2,400 bottles of free Rwenzori Water, ensuring hydration throughout the festival.

Brenda Kobutungi, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager, stated, “Our commitment goes beyond serving great beer; we strive to create safer, enjoyable experiences. We encouraged hydration and partnered with Safe Boda to discourage drunk driving.”

Lilian Kansiime, Bell Lager Brand Manager, praised the initiative, saying, “Bell ObaFest 2024 perfectly blended entertainment and education. Over 3,000 people engaged in our anti-drink driving campaign, reinforcing safety and moderation.”

The festival featured games, competitions, and interactive tools, including the “Wrong Side of the Road” campaign, which surveyed 3,060 participants on the consequences of impaired driving.
