The Commander Land Force, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, this week flagged off the Fourth Aviation Component which will replace the Third Aviation Component currently on a peacekeeping mission in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia after a successful year-long mission.
The ceremony took place at the Soroti Air Force Wing.
Addressing the officers and men, Lt Gen Muhanga emphasized the importance of discipline and physical fitness as essential elements for success saying, “If you want to hit the limits, discipline and regular physical exercises are key.”
“When you maintain discipline, success will come knocking on closed doors,” highlighting that good health, achieved through physical exercise, is critical for performance in the field.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commander Air Force Maj Gen David Isimbwa, on behalf of the Commander Air Force, commended the dedication of the trainees and wished them success in their upcoming mission.
The Fourth Aviation Component is commanded by Col Solomon Andiandu, with Lt Col Pascal Bariine as his deputy.
The Aviation Component, first deployed to Somalia on 15th October 2020, has been pivotal in supporting peacekeeping efforts by providing airlift services for troop deployments, supply transportation, and casualty evacuations.
