Uganda Cranes has Friday afternoon been knocked out of the CECAFA championship after suffering a 2-1 loss to Zanzibar in the second semi-final.

The Zanzibar Islanders took the lead through danger man Abdalaziz in the 22nd minute before Uganda’s Derrick Nsibambi equalised in the 29th minute of play ending the first half in a one all draw.

The Cranes hopes to score a winning goal diminished in the 55th minute when strong man Joseph Nsubuga was red carded, ordering him off the pitch.

A 10-man team of defending champions Uganda missed many clear-cut chances including Derrick Nsibambi and Nelly Senkatuka’s shots away from goal in second half.

Uganda’s loss has raised questions on whether coach Moses Basena is the right man to be at the helm of the Cranes technical team.

Zanzibar will now be tasselling for the trophy on Sunday 17 December, 2017 with hosts Kenya in the finals at Machacos.

Zanzibar won the CECAFA Cup after defeating Uganda in the finals in the 1995 tournament hosted in Kampala.

Can they repeat it on Sunday against the Harambee Stars of Kenya in the finals?
