“We registered a fire outbreak at the National Theatre premises. One of the kiosks within the compound that houses the national theatre building caught fire and the fire spread to the other kiosks,” Owoyesigyire said.

He said alot of property was lost.

“But our Fire Prevention and Rescue Services managed to rush the scene and extinguish this fire before it could spread further.”

According to Owoyesigyire, no one lost his/her life or got injured.

He said the preliminary cause of the fire outbreak is believed to be a welding machine.

“Someone had gone to one of the kiosks to weld. That is where the fire started from.”

He said police arrested the welder identified as Sanjo Vincent.

He is currently detained at Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala.
