Global dancehall sensation Vybz Kartel is set to headline the Talanta East Africa Festival, which is poised to captivate East Africa. The festival celebrates the region’s shared cultural and musical heritage, promising electrifying performances, cultural showcases, and immersive experiences that highlight East Africa’s vibrant artistry.
The festival is designed as a cross-border cultural experience, bringing together audiences from the East African region to celebrate music, fashion, cuisine, and artistic expression. The regional tour will take place in three major East African cities: Kampala, Uganda, on May 1 (Lugogo Cricket Oval); Rwanda (BK Arena, Kigali) on May 2; and Nairobi, Kenya (Laurette Gardens, Kasarani) on May 8.
“Talanta East Afrika Festival is about creating a platform that unites East Africans through music, culture, and shared identity,” said Bushington of Tunez Records Uganda, one of the festival’s lead organizers.
The global music festival industry is currently valued at over USD 2.2 billion and is growing rapidly, with Africa and the Middle East representing the fastest-growing markets. Talanta East Afrika Festival aims to position East Africa at the forefront of this cultural expansion, targeting a digitally connected audience aged 18-35.
The festival will leverage influencer collaborations and digital storytelling in the lead-up to the May 2026 tour dates. Organizers have confirmed that 100% of the festival workforce in each host country will be sourced locally, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainable growth.
While Vybz Kartel will headline the festival, the full lineup of East African artists will be revealed progressively in the coming weeks. The festival is expected to feature a mix of established and emerging artists from across the region, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of East Africa’s evolving music scene. Further announcements regarding artists, partnerships, and ticketing information will be released in phases as the festival build-up continues.
