The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has celebrated attaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification, marking a major milestone in its drive toward institutional excellence, operational efficiency, and improved public service delivery.

The celebration took place at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre (UBFC) Auditorium, bringing together government officials, development partners, board members, management, and staff to recognise the Bureau’s achievement in meeting internationally recognised quality management standards.

Government Commends Institutional Transformation

The Chief Guest, Theopista Mary Wenene, Deputy Head of Public Service and Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, praised URSB for its commitment to performance-driven public administration.

“URSB stands out as a perfect example of a government agency that has embraced transformation through systems, accountability, and results-oriented management. The achievement is proof of strategic strengthening of standards. It is a statement of commitment to efficiency, transparency, and citizen-centred service delivery,” she said.

Board Leadership and Governance Strengthening

URSB Board Chairperson Francis K. Butagira highlighted the Board’s strategic role in institutionalising quality standards.

“As a Board, we intentionally supported the institutionalisation of quality management standards to enhance service delivery. We recognised early that sustainable excellence requires structured systems, clear processes, and measurable outcomes. This certification affirms that URSB is on the right path,” he stated.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement and Innovation

The Registrar General of URSB, Mercy K. Kainobwisho, reaffirmed the Bureau’s dedication to service innovation and quality improvement.

“This certification strengthens our resolve to deliver streamlined, faster, and standardised services to our clients. ISO 9001:2015 provides us with a robust framework to continuously review, improve, and align our processes with international best practices. We are committed to sustaining this culture of quality across all our operations,” she said.

Significance of the Certification

The ISO 9001:2015 standard is the world’s leading quality management framework, focusing on customer satisfaction, risk-based decision-making, process efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The certification reflects URSB’s strategic focus on strengthening governance, improving operational performance, and enhancing client experience in business registration and intellectual property services.

Supporting Economic Development

URSB plays a key role in Uganda’s economic transformation by providing reliable, transparent, and efficient registration services that support business formation, intellectual property protection, and the formalisation of economic activities.

As the Bureau enters this new phase of institutional excellence, it remains committed to embedding quality management principles across its mandate to support national development.
