The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) has registered a smooth start of conduct of the May/June 2026 assessments. A total of 47,774 candidates were registered by the Board from 544 assessment centres across the country.

The May/June 2026 assessment series involve candidates pursuing various technical and vocational academic programmes offered at Certificate and Diploma levels.

The candidates are drawn from technology education and training, business education, home science and agriculture programmes. Of the total, 24,493 are male while 23,281 are female,

Technical vocational education attracted 6,780 males and 5,964 females, while Business VET registered 6,240 males and 5,930 females. In technical education and training, 5,770 males and 5,660 females were registered, while Business TET recorded 5,820 males and 5,610 females.

The board registered 165 students with Special Needs, and more than 100 specialised support personnel, including sign language interpreters, transcribers and guides have been deployed to support them.

Onesmus Oyesigye, Executive Secretary UVTAB, said the Board is grateful to all stakeholders for playing a critical role towards ensuring a smooth start of the assessments across the country.

He appealed to all Assessment Managers to take heed of the regulations on the conduct of assessment to guard against any form of malpractices and aim at the successful conduct of all the assessments.

Over the weekend, the board revealed that over 500 scouts and 200 practical assessors have been deployed  to monitor centres and conduct spot checks.
