The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has refuted media reports that Brig Gen Charles Bakahumura has been arrested by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).

“It is not true that the CLE has been arrested. That is fake news,” Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, the Defence Spokesperson, told SoftPowerNews on Friday evening.

Reports by various online news outlets had indicated that Bakahumura was arrested shortly after attending the Defence prayers at Kololo Grounds.

Brig Gen Bakahumura is the Chief of Logistics and Engineering (CLE) and heads the UPDF Logistics and Engineering Brigade.

Contacted, the General also said it was not true that he is under arrest.
“It is not true and I don’t know the intentions of the people who are writing and spreading such falsehoods,” he said.
