This move highlights Unilever’s commitment to innovation and its ongoing effort to connect more closely with consumers across Uganda.

The Bugwere Market activation is a key milestone in the nationwide rollout of Royco Cube Ku String—a convenient, hygienic, and budget-friendly pack of 12 individually wrapped seasoning cubes, tailored to suit the everyday needs of modern Ugandan kitchens. Priced at just UGX 1,200, the product combines affordability, portion control, and shelf appeal, making it a smart choice for both households and small-scale traders.

Speaking at the event, Grace Nandawula, Marketing Manager at Unilever Uganda, said: “We chose Bugwere Market because the people of Mbale and the Eastern region have always been an integral part of Royco’s journey. This launch is not just about introducing a new format—it’s about acknowledging our loyal customers, listening to their needs, and providing solutions that make their cooking easier and more enjoyable. We’re here to celebrate them and to say ‘thank you’ for making Royco part of their daily meals.”

The activation brought the market to life with live cooking demonstrations, product sampling, and interactive engagements with local vendors and shoppers, creating a dynamic and inclusive market-day experience. The Cube Ku String’s compact and visible packaging is especially suited for busy retail environments like Bugwere Market, where value and convenience are key.

Grace further emphasised: “Royco has been a beloved staple in Ugandan homes for generations. With Cube Ku String, we’re blending tradition with innovation, ensuring every family, regardless of location, can enjoy the same great taste, now fortified with iron and iodine. Coming to Mbale is part of our commitment to grow with our communities, on the ground and side by side.”

As Unilever continues to expand its national presence, the successful activation in Mbale reaffirms the company’s mission: to serve communities, support local enterprises, and deliver relevant, high-quality innovations that elevate everyday meals and enrich the lives of consumers across Uganda.
