The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is finalizing preparations for the marking of the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exam scripts.
“The Board is finalizing preparations for the marking of PLE and UCE examination scripts,” Jenifer Kalule, the UNEB Principal PRO, said at a presser held at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
UNEB has a total of 41 examination centres for all three levels of the examinations.
These include 20 UCE Centres, 13 PLE Centres and 8 centres for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
According to Kalule, the Board will contract about 6,000 examiners to mark PLE and 8,500 examiners for UCE “where we have about 116 papers to be marked”.
She noted that as the Board, they are grateful to the public for their support in the entire process of conducting examinations.
A total of 832,810 candidates from 14,153 centres sat for PLE this year while 349,445 candidates were registered for UCE.
Currently, candidates are in week two of their UACE examinations. Kalule warned the public against involvement in any form of examination malpractice.
She said anyone found culpable will be dealt with per the provisions of the UNEB Act 2021.
“We have not experienced any major hitches concerning UACE cases of examination malpractice, despite a few cases.”
