Uganda rolled out a vibrant cultural welcome for an Egyptian delegation, blending tradition, heritage, and hospitality in a carefully curated experience that highlighted the country’s rich identity and tourism potential.

The dynamic Egyptian delegation, including stars Mahmod Hemida and Nabil Issa, is in Uganda for a 10-day farm and tourism experience that celebrates the cultural connection of the Nile.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, the delegation was received with traditional drumming performances, setting the tone for what officials described as an immersive cultural journey. The rhythmic beats, deeply rooted in Ugandan tradition, offered more than entertainment—serving as a symbolic introduction to the country’s cultural expression.

The visitors proceeded on a guided tour of key historical and cultural landmarks in the Buganda Kingdom, including the Kasubi Tombs and Lubiri (Kabaka’s Palace). The sites, both central to Buganda’s heritage, provided insight into the kingdom’s legacy, spirituality, and governance systems.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that the experience was designed to offer the delegation a “living encounter” with Uganda’s history, where culture is not only preserved but actively practised.

The day’s activities culminated in a cultural gala dinner at the Ndere Cultural Centre, hosted by Lt. Gen. Charles Angina, Uganda’s Chargé d’Affaires to Egypt. The evening blended cuisine and performance, with guests treated to local dishes such as matooke, rolex, and rice, alongside flavours inspired by the Nile region.

Traditional dance and music performances took centre stage, showcasing Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage through storytelling, rhythm, and movement. In a moment that underscored the spirit of cultural exchange, members of the Egyptian delegation joined Ugandan performers on stage, creating a shared experience that transcended language and borders.

The Ministry noted that the engagement reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural diplomacy and deepen ties between Uganda and Egypt, using heritage and tourism as key pillars of cooperation.

The visit, framed under the theme “Cairo to Kampala: The Nile Journey,” highlights the historical and cultural connections between the two nations, while positioning Uganda as a premier destination for cultural tourism.
