IThe Uganda Cranes have today qualified for the semi finals of the CECAFA championship, following their late equalizer against the Waliyas of Ethiopia.
Cranes only goal was scored by Derick Nsibambi in the 86th minute sending their fans in a massive celebratory mood.
The match which took place in Kakamega, saw cranes dominating possession but scoring no goals.
Ethiopia’s strong man Abubakher Sanni, silenced the fans more when he put the ball behind the net in the 22nd minute giving his side a 1 – 0 score against the defending champions Uganda.
Second half saw Cranes taking numerous shots on target but all saved by Ethiopia’s shot stopper Tekele Mariam.
Cranes experienced more worse situations when Isaac Muleme and Awany were both red carded leaving Moses Basena’s team stuck on who their Savior would be.
Uganda’s hopes were a little raised when Senkatuuka sent his effort over the bar from a free kick in the 83rd minute before Ethiopia’s goalie Tekele mariam was yellow carded for time wasting.
Waliyas were sent into maximum silence by Derick Nsibambi’s 86th minutes equalizer automatically knocking them out of the tournament.
