Uganda has reaffirmed its strong bilateral relations with Kenya following the presentation of Copies of Letters of Credence by Kenya’s High Commissioner-designate to Kampala.
The Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, John Mulimba, received copies of the credentials from Ababu Namwamba at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mulimba congratulated the envoy on his appointment and assured him of Uganda’s full support during his diplomatic mission.
He emphasised the longstanding ties between Uganda and Kenya, describing the relationship as rooted in shared history, regional cooperation, and a common vision for prosperity and stability in East Africa. “The relationship between our two sister republics remains strong and continues to be guided by our shared aspirations for peace, economic growth, and deeper regional integration,” Mulimba said.
In his remarks, Namwamba expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended to him and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Uganda.
He identified peace and security collaboration, as well as trade and investment, as key priorities of his tenure. “Kenya attaches great importance to its partnership with Uganda, particularly in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure development, and trade, which are critical for job creation and economic transformation,” Namwamba said.
Both sides also underscored the need to strengthen people-to-people relations and boost cross-border trade by addressing non-tariff barriers that continue to affect business within the region.
They agreed to enhance regular consultations and pursue practical, time-bound actions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
The meeting signals renewed momentum in Uganda-Kenya relations, with both countries seeking to leverage regional integration frameworks to unlock greater economic opportunities for their citizens.
