The strategic partnership, signed on November 24th, 2025, is set to significantly enhance travel connectivity for passengers, offering seamless linking between Uganda Airlines’ network and Airlink’s extensive route system across Southern Africa via Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).

The partnership allows passengers to book a single ticket for seamless travel from Entebbe (EBB) to over 45 destinations within Southern Africa and across the Southern African region. This simplifies the travel experience by providing a single through-check for passengers and their baggage, eliminating the need for multiple bookings and check-ins in Johannesburg.

Key Benefits and Destinations

The agreement supports, among others, an Expanded Network Access where guests will now enjoy convenient, single-ticket access to Airlink’s comprehensive network of over 45 destinations, including popular business and leisure spots such as Cape Town, Durban, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Gaborone, and more.

This seamless travel experience means that passengers can book a single itinerary for their entire journey, checked luggage is automatically transferred between airlines, and flexible travel options and reciprocal benefits are available.

Ms Adedayo Olawuyi, Chief Commercial Officer, Uganda Airlines, commented on the strategic importance of the collaboration: “We are excited to partner with Airlink, a respected airline known for its extensive regional network. This interline agreement is a significant step in our aspirations of making inter-African travel easier. It provides our customers with unparalleled convenience and choice when travelling to key destinations across Southern Africa, all on a single ticket.”

Echoing this sentiment, Ms Katherine Whelan, Airlink Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the mutual advantages: “It’s this partnership with Uganda Airlines that strengthens our commitments to connecting Africa. It opens up a vital gateway in East Africa for our customers, and, in turn, provides Ugandan travellers with efficient and direct access to Southern Africa’s key economic and tourism centres. It’s a win-win for both airlines and our customers.”

Uganda Airlines is the national carrier of the Republic of Uganda and operates international scheduled air transportation services in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The airline started commercial operations in August 2019 and is a two-time winner of the prestigious “Ch-aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award” in the world. Its current network includes scheduled flights to 17 destinations in Africa.

Airlink was established in 1992 and is Southern Africa’s premier, privately-owned regional airline. With a fleet of 70 modern Embraer jet aircraft, Airlink operates 67 routes to and from 47 destinations across 15 Southern African countries, including the island territory of St Helena. Airlink is an International Air Transport Association (IATA) member and is certified through the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme.
