UBOS Crowned Best Performing Institution by Top Radio

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has been honoured as the Best Performing Institution by Top Radio, highlighting the national statistics agency’s efforts to provide reliable and high-quality data critical for planning and development.

In a statement posted on the Bureau’s official social media account, UBOS said the recognition underscores its commitment to delivering dependable statistical information that supports evidence-based decision-making across both government and private sectors.

The agency extended congratulations to Dr Chris N. Mukiza, its Executive Director & Chief Statistician, and the entire UBOS team for the achievement.

“We are proud to be recognised as the Best Performing Institution by Top Radio. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality statistical data that informs evidence-based planning and development across the nation,” the statement said.

Dr Chris Ndatira Mukiza, a Ugandan economist with a doctorate from the University of Southampton, has been at the helm of UBOS, steering the agency in its mandate to collect, analyse and disseminate essential national data.

The award from Top Radio—one of Uganda’s prominent radio broadcasters—reflects UBOS’s growing visibility and influence in public discourse, especially as it produces data that guide national planning, monitor economic trends, and inform policy formulation.

UBOS serves as the principal statistical agency in Uganda, tasked with coordinating the National Statistical System and producing data essential to government ministries, development partners, researchers and the wider public. Its outputs include national census data, economic indicators, and statistics aligned with frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals.

In recent years, the Bureau has expanded its engagement with stakeholders through media and public outreach, ensuring that data are not only collected but also communicated in ways that enhance understanding and decision making. This award by Top Radio further highlights the importance of such engagement in raising awareness of the role statistics play in national development.
