Two people have been injured in a Monday morning accident that happened in Mabira Forest along Kampala-Jinja highway.

According to Mabira Police Station records, the 28th February 2022 accident involved a Tata Lorry Box Body (UBG 609L) and a trailer (KBU 465J/ZC 7705).

The accident happened at Lwakima near Oryx Fuel station along Jinja-Kampala highway in Bukwe district.

Findings show that the driver of trailer was driving from Jinja-Kampala side and on reaching the climbing Lane at Lwakima, overtook on the third Lane (Lane for Kampala to Jinja traffic) and thus collided with the Tata lorry that was being driven by one Kamya Kabonge Elias from Kampala to Jinja.

Both vehicles overturned blocking the road.

“The driver of the trailer and his turnman have been taken to Jinja hospital for treatment,” said ASP Faridah Nampiima, PRO Traffic and Road Safety Directorate.

She added: “As of now part of the road is clear for motorists. Further inquiries are on going.”
