Vivo Energy Uganda has recognized over 400 high-performing truck drivers and seven transporter companies for their outstanding road safety records.

These individuals and companies have collectively driven over 18 million kilometers without a single road incident while delivering fuel products.

The recognition ceremony took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala during the Drivers’ and Hauliers’ League Dinner Gala and Awards. The Drivers’ and Hauliers’ League was launched in 2002 to promote road safety behavior and compliance among drivers and transporter companies.

Joanita Mukasa Menya, Managing Director at Vivo Energy Uganda, commended the drivers and hauliers for their remarkable achievement. “Your diligence and professionalism have earned you this recognition, and we must continue to uphold this standard,” she said.

She emphasized Vivo Energy Uganda’s commitment to Goal Zero, ensuring zero harm to people, assets, and the environment.

“As a quadruple ISO-certified company, we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards in health, safety, environment, and quality management,” she added.

The Guest of Honour, AIGP Lawrence Nuwabiine, Director of Traffic and Road Safety, Uganda Police Force, praised Vivo Energy Uganda for its commitment to championing road safety.

He noted that the company’s initiatives, such as the ‘Tweddeko,’ ‘HeadsUp’ child safety campaign, and free public defensive driving training workshops, align with the government’s vision of promoting responsible road use.

AIGP Nuwabiine emphasized the importance of collective action to enhance road safety and save lives. “Road crashes remain a persistent challenge in Uganda, and we must work together to address this issue,” he said.

The best driver, Finney Mukasa from Fred Sebyala Transporters, was recognized for driving over 45,000 kilometers without a road incident or violation of traffic rules and regulations. Other award winners included Cecilia Njane from Uganda Transport Agency, who was recognized as the best female driver.
