Kampala — Tanzanian businessman Mohammed Dewji has held talks with General Caleb Akandwanaho, commonly known as Salim Saleh, over investment and industrialisation opportunities linking Uganda and Tanzania.
Dewji, who is the founder and CEO of MeTL Group, said the discussions with Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), focused on sectors including recycling, local manufacturing, digital connectivity and food security.
“It was a pleasure meeting General Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh), Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC),” Dewji said in a statement.

He said the discussions explored opportunities that could create jobs, reduce dependence on imports and increase the value of goods produced within Africa.
“Across East Africa, we have the resources, markets and capacity to achieve much more together,” Dewji said.
He said investment between African countries could help build industries capable of meeting local demand while strengthening regional economies.
“I have always believed that Africans will build Africa — by investing in one another and building the industries that will move our continent forward,” he said.

Dewji thanked Saleh and the OWC team for what he described as a productive exchange.
The meeting comes as Uganda and Tanzania continue to pursue stronger economic and commercial ties, including cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture and infrastructure.
Dewji is among Tanzania’s prominent private-sector investors, with MeTL Group operating across manufacturing, agriculture, trading, logistics, financial services and other sectors in several African countries.
