City socialite turned philanthropist, Brian Kirumira alias Bryan White whose lavish social status has sparked mixed reaction among the public has appealed to Ugandans to support the philanthropic work he is engaged rather than bash him.

Bryan White mysteriously came onto the scene in Uganda last year, joining the club of deep pocketed socialites who stopped at nothing to show off their networth.

White who claims to have prior to his breakout been based in Italy quickly became a common face in Kampala hang outs dishing out money to whoever cared. Not before long, he had caught media attention and quickly earned the ‘socialite’ tag. Then, he got arrested on charges of assault and attempted murder and was jailed in Luzira prison.

But even as an inmate, White reportedly funded some works to change the face of the prison as well as improve the living conditions of the prisoners.

Upon release on bail, the ‘money bag’ began to make donations to schools, the impoverished and other needy people. Later he would create a Foundation in his name, which he claims serves to empower youth from poverty.

Under this initiative, he was so far made a major outreach to Mbarara where he donated basic necessities to individuals, patients and health supplies to Mbarara hospital.

But all this while, questions still linger in the minds of a section of Ugandans. Some have criticized White for seeking attention while others believe he earns money through unscrupulous ways. He says his wealth was an inheritance from his rich Italian step father.

While attending the Comedy Store show, hosted by comedian Alex Muhangi, a member of the the Bryan White Foundation, the socialite solicited the support of those who bash him.

“I came out with the Bryan White Foundation to awaken the youth from poverty. I request everyone to support my Foundation not to criticize,” White told revellers.

“I am not a bad person. Am just helping out,” he added.

He said that his Foundation is among other things looking to rid Kampala city of the youthful goons who are consumed in acts of robbery and other crimes.

“The city is full of junkies. You park you car there, you won’t find it there or your laptop. You walk on the streets and you get stabbed with a knife. Everything is happening,” White who was accompanied by some comedians and musicians, intimated.

“So, instead of criticizing, let’s just come together, we are one Uganda”.

During the show, White splashed out millions of shillings to artistes (comedians and musicians) in appreciation of their talent.
