Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Uganda’s rising long-distance star, Cherop Samuel Simba, continues to make a name for himself on the international stage after securing two medals at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
Simba clinched a bronze medal in the men’s 5000m on Monday, clocking 13:46.45 in a highly competitive field. The medal adds to his earlier success at the Games, where he delivered a remarkable performance to take silver in the 10,000m just days prior.
The Uganda Athletics Federation celebrated the achievement, describing Simba’s outing as “great” and applauding the young athlete for his consistency and grit.
Simba’s back-to-back podium finishes underline his growing stature in Uganda’s athletics lineup and signal a promising future for the long-distance runner as he continues to gain valuable international experience.
The Islamic Solidarity Games, organised by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), have attracted top athletes from across member countries, making Simba’s achievements even more impressive.
Uganda will be hoping his success inspires more strong performances from the national team as the Games continue in Riyadh.
