The commission of inquiry into land matters has arrested a Jinja based senior surveyor for fraudulently selling government land to a foreigner.
The land in question is at Butembe, Wairaka in Jinja district.
Pande surveyed the then idle land and cut off 20 acres that he later sold to an Indian at shs.160 million, the commission heard on Thursday.
However, when the Uganda Land Commission later allocated it to National Fisheries Research Institute for use, officials were told it belonged to an Indian.
On Thursday, Pande said the land in question belonged to him after acquiring it customarily.
He angered the commissioners when he insisted the land belonged to him despite having no proof of a land title.
Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire then ordered for his arrest for telling lies.
