The Millennium Grounds in Kololo came alive on Sunday as revellers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Bakiga Nation Festival, a vibrant showcase of the cultural diversity and pride of the Kigezi region. Not even the rain could dampen the celebratory mood.
The milestone edition brought together the people of Kigezi in a spirit of unity, honouring a decade of cultural preservation and shared identity.
Pilsner Lager played a central role through its curated Pilsner Cultural Village, which transported guests to a traditional Kigezi homestead. The space featured authentic artefacts such as wooden stools, drums, and ornaments, creating a warm and familiar cultural experience. Early arrivals also enjoyed complimentary Pilsner King beers as part of a beer-tasting experience.
Lillian Kansiime said Pilsner Lager was proud to support platforms that celebrate Uganda’s cultural heritage, while urging consumers to drink responsibly during the festive season.
Pilsner Lager is a brand deeply rooted in celebrating our cultural fabric as Ugandans. We find pride in being part of cultural festivals like Bakiga Nation, as a meaningful way to connect with our consumers in a way that recognises the pride they uphold in their heritage.”
As evening set in, traditional Ekitagururo rhythms filled the air, with performances by the Kizino and Enanga Cultural Troupe, drawing revellers into energetic dance circles. Guests also sampled Kigezi delicacies, including empenyere, millet bread with eshabwe, and enturire served in traditional gourds.
The celebrations culminated in electrifying performances by Florence Musimenta, T-Paul, and headliner Sheebah Karungi, who closed the night with back-to-back hits, leaving the crowd eagerly anticipating the next edition.
