Prof. Yakobo Okedi Installed as 3rd Chancellor of Kyambogo University

Prof. John Yakobo Okedi has been installed as the 3rd Chancellor of Kyambogo University.

In accordance with section 30(1) of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 (as amended), Prof. Okedi was appointed as the Chancellor by H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda on recommendations of the University Council for a period of 4 years.

Prof Okedi being handed instruments of office

The newly installed Chancellor is a Professor of Hydrobiology, a Research Scientist, and an environmental expert.

Prof. Okedi, the former Kyambogo University Council Chairman, replaces Prof. John Mary Ssebuwufu.

VP Jessica Alupo installed him on behalf of President Museveni

The Vice President, Jessica Alupo, represented President Museveni, who was the Chief Guest at the Wednesday installation ceremony.

In his message, President Museveni asked Professor Okedi to promote public-private partnerships in order to attract more funding.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Eli Katunguka, hailed Prof Okedi for playing a critical role in creating a peaceful and harmonious environment at the university.

On his part, Prof Okedi promised to work with the university management to promote science and technology.
