Police say the explosion which occured at an eating Joint in Komamboga on Saturday evening injured 8 people.
The incident happened at around 9pm at Digida eating point when a loud blast was heard followed by alarms for help. Eyewitnesses and media reports earlier indicated that two people had died including one (girl) on spot and another (man) in hospital.
However, police spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga says “one person has been fatally wounded and seven others rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital with serious injuries.”
He says the scene has since been cordoned off, and their joint task teams from the bomb squad have been called to thoroughly document the scene, to help determine whether the explosion arose out of an intentional act or not.
The police spokesperson has further asked the public to remain calm as they establish the true circumstances surrounding the incident.
