Buziga – Kabojja International School marked a major academic and developmental milestone last week as it held its 18th graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements of students completing the Cambridge Year 11 and Year 13 programmes.

A Day of Milestones

Mr Benon M. Kajuna, Managing Director of Uganda Railways Corporation, in his message as the Chief Guest, encouraged graduates to persevere and remain resilient in their future endeavours.

“As you enter the next phase of your lives, remember that success is not just built on knowledge but also on perseverance, values, and a sense of purpose,” he said.

In his distinguished career as a transport economist and leader in infrastructure development, Kajuna brought valuable insights into the importance of discipline, strategic thinking, and long-term planning.

Leading with Vision

Owek. Ahmed Lwasa, Director of the school, emphasised that graduation is not the end, but rather the beginning of new possibilities. Addressing Year 11 and Year 13 graduates, he urged them to embrace the world with integrity, curiosity, and a determination to create a positive impact.

“This moment signifies a pivotal chapter in your lives. As you move forward into universities, careers, or personal pursuits, carry with you the enduring ethos of Kabojja International School,” he said.

Mr. Lwasa also shared exciting developments at the school, including full authorisation to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), with the Diploma Programme (DP) underway. He highlighted the soon-to-be-launched Health Club facility, designed to promote student well-being and holistic growth.

A Principal’s Reflections

Mr Sam Turya, Principal and CEO of Kabojja International School, paid tribute to the resilience of learners, especially those who completed their education during turbulent global times.

“To our Year 11 and Year 13 graduates—this celebration marks a significant milestone in your academic journey. Through challenges, you have developed critical skills like communication, creativity, and critical thinking,” he said.

He acknowledged the critical roles played by parents, guardians, and faculty, affirming the school’s continued dedication to nurturing global citizens. “Kabojja is proud to be a fully-fledged Cambridge school and a recognised IB World School,” he added.

Teacher Tributes and Emotional Farewells

In an emotional speech, Ms Kabakama Emily, representing the Year 11 teaching team, recalled the class’s remarkable journey through the challenges of COVID-19, online learning, and personal growth.

“You didn’t let the situation define you. You showed up—day after day—willing to adapt, grow, and strive. That resilience laid the foundation for everything you have achieved,” she said.

She celebrated not just academic achievements but also the development of character and leadership among students, many of whom served in various school roles, from prefects to club leaders.

Similarly, Mr Davis Kazibwe, class teacher for the Year 13 May-June cohort, delivered a heartfelt farewell to his students, blending humour, emotion, and wisdom.

“I’ve watched you grow from shy, curious learners into bold, articulate young adults… Don’t chase success at the cost of joy. You can rise and still stay rooted,” he told the graduates, drawing tears and applause from the crowd.

Student Leadership and Personal Growth

Ms Sandy Bansal, Head of High School (Cambridge), reminded students of their unique journey and the indelible mark they’ve left on the school community.

“To our Year 13 students, you are stepping into a whole new world… The knowledge and values you’ve gained here will continue to guide you,” she said.

Her message to Year 11 students echoed the same spirit of perseverance and ambition, encouraging them to return for Sixth Form and seize new opportunities with purpose and vision.

Looking Ahead

As Kabojja International School looks toward the future, the graduation ceremony underscored not only the academic readiness of its students but also their preparedness to be global citizens with empathy, adaptability, and ambition.

The school continues to expand its educational offerings with the introduction of a Special Learners Programme and a daycare launching in August 2025, underscoring its commitment to inclusivity and comprehensive learning.

Throughout the ceremony, speakers repeatedly acknowledged the essential roles of parents, guardians, faculty, administrators, and directors in shaping the journey of the graduates. Their shared commitment was evident in the students’ confidence, maturity, and readiness to face the challenges ahead.
