Pearl Bank (formerly PostBank) has continued its remarkable run of success in 2025, earning the Banking Services – General Banking Accolade at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards held on November 5, 2025, at Hotel Africana. The event ran under the theme “Sustainability Practices and Reporting in Uncertain Global Times.”
Introduced in 2011 by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in partnership with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE), the FiRe Awards celebrate institutions that exemplify best practices in financial reporting, while promoting transparency, integrity, and accountability in corporate governance.
The Awards also aim to elevate the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda by encouraging compliance with international standards and the adoption of sound corporate reporting practices.
Commenting on the Bank’s win, Mr Peter Ssenyange, Chief Financial Officer at Pearl Bank, said the FiRe Awards provide both a benchmark and a learning platform for institutions to strengthen accountability and reporting practices.
“Such engagements hold us accountable—not only as advocates for best practices in financial reporting but as practitioners who apply these standards in our day-to-day operations,” Ssenyange noted. “This enables us to transparently showcase our performance and share critical information with shareholders and stakeholders who drive our organisation’s growth.”

He expressed gratitude to the Bank’s management, finance team, and all stakeholders for their unwavering support, which he said had contributed to Pearl Bank’s recognition.
CPA Timothy David Ediomu, President of ICPAU, emphasised the importance of strong educational foundations and institutional excellence in transforming Uganda’s financial reporting landscape.
“Since their inception in 2011, the FiRe Awards have served a noble purpose—enhancing the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda,” Ediomu remarked. “We encourage organisations to go beyond compliance, to tell their stories holistically, and to demonstrate how financial decisions align with broader societal goals.”
The Chief Guest, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, congratulated all winners and commended ICPAU, CMA, and USE for championing excellence in financial reporting and corporate accountability.
Pearl Bank’s latest recognition adds to a growing list of achievements this year. The Bank’s CFO, Peter Ssenyange, was earlier named Chief Financial Officer of the Year and recipient of the Sustainability Award at the 2025 CFO Awards. In October, the Bank also earned Sustainability Certification in Germany, affirming its commitment to the sustainability agenda outlined in its five-year strategic plan.
