Maj Gen Kavuma reminded the troops that the success of the UPDF over the past 42 years has been anchored on the characteristics of conscious discipline, patriotism, sacrifice, Pan-Africanism and the strategic relationship with the ‘wanainchi.’

He said that because of the conscious discipline of 42 National Resistance Army members with only 23 guns managed to survive and defeat two armies of Amin and Obote.

He reminded troops that despite the different religions and tribes they come from while joining the army, they created one tribe and religion which is UPDF.

He implored troops to know and understand very well the beauty of Uganda which is endowed with natural resources, beautiful weather, fertile soils, lakes and mountains and sacrifice and defend Uganda jealously with the support of ‘wanainchi.’

He cautioned and urged troops not to harass, intimidate, torture, or yell at ‘wanaichi’ and always remember they are the strength of the UPDF.

He informed troops that the environment has been degraded and destroyed by population growth and many other factors and it is their duty to defend and protect the environment by stopping deforestation, and tree planting as an institution, individual and family at any time and everywhere.
