The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Managing Director, Dr Eng Silver Mugisha has been reappointed as the Vice President on the body that governs the African Water Association (AfWA).
Dr Mugisha was reappointed during the 19th Congress of the African Water Association and Annual General Meeting held in Bamako, Mali.
This is the second time in a row that the NWSC boss has held the position following his first appointment in 2016. He was subsequently named Managing Director for International Water Association (IWA) in 2016 during the Congress in Brisbane, Australia.
IWA is represented in 130 countries worldwide, forming the largest international network of water professionals working towards a water wise world.
Its programmes develop research and projects focused on solutions for water and wastewater management.
During this year’s AfWA Congress, NWSC’s Director of Business and Scientific Services, Dr Rose Kaggwa was also confirmed as the Second President of the Association Scientific and Technical council.
“The affiliations are creating opportunities to learn global best practises, share best practises from Uganda and benchmark on modern service delivery models for better service delivery in Uganda” Dr Mugisha said in reference to the significance of the Association to the national water entities.
Mugisha also served as President of the Scientific and Technical Council of AfWA from 2010 to 2014 and Chairman of the WOP-Africa Programme Committee in the same period.
Between 2010 and 2012, he was a member of IWA Programme Committee.
