The Managing Director of NTV Uganda, is set to leave the Kampala Serena Hotel based television following her new appointment to lead a development organization with an East African footprint. Konde will effective October 1 be the Chief Executive Officer of Msingi East African Ltd, an independent organization focusing on building industry within the region.
In an official communiqué authored by Ali Mufuruki the Chairman of Msingi, it was indicated that Konde’s vast and diverse experience would be resourceful in propelling the organization founded in 2016 to greater heights.
“Ms. Agnes Konde, a Ugandan national has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for Msingi effective October 1, 2017,” the communiqué read.
“On behalf of Msingi Board of Directors, I wish to take this opportunity to offer Ms. Konde our most sincere congratulations on this appointment and extend our full support to her as she takes over the leadership of the organization,” Mufuruki wrote.
The organization founded by British retail billionaire Lord David Sainsbury to invest solely in East African startups that have high growth potential, is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya but has presence in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.
Msingi supports the establishment of new companies in key sectors like agriculture through market and technology research as well assisting entrepreneurs and new business owners in business planning and development.
Beside heading NTV Uganda, Konde who holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University and an MBA from the University of Liverpool has previously worked with Crown Beverages as head of marketing and British American Tobacco as Trade Marketing Representative.
The chartered marketer also served as brand manager and later marketing and circulation manager at Monitor Publications Ltd, one of Uganda’s leading dailies. Konde has been a Board member for several organizations including; Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), United Way and African Network for the Care of Children affected by HIV.
It is perhaps her stellar background in leadership record of achievement that earned her the top position at Msingi.
“We are confident that under her leadership, with the support of management and Board, Msingi will achieve its ambition of building industries of the future,” further read the communiqué.
