“As NRM, we are grateful to you for your deliberate efforts in transforming the lives of the ordinary people through projects in agriculture like coffee growing, education, and health,” Todwong said as he addressed the media after the meeting.

He also applauded the Kabaka for uniting all people living in the Kingdom, irrespective of their political affiliation.

“I am humbled by your gesture of welcoming and consolidating our people across all political divides and religions.”

Todwong added, “We are in the public domain to serve the interests of the country. Therefore, Cultural institutions and government are the cooking stones which must work together to benefit the ordinary people.”

He also extended to the Kabaka greetings of the NRM Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the leadership of the party and those of the Acholi Paramount Chief, Rwot David Onen Acana II.

Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, who was glad to welcome SG Todwong pledged his full support in collaborating with the government to implement policies that are in the interest of those still living in poverty.

“The NRM is of course the party in power and the government implements the programs of the party in power. There are certain aspects of programs that we are interested in like skilling the youth because everybody must be skilled at something to survive,” Katikkiro said.

He added, “I am sure if they (the government) hear of programs we have in the Kingdom, they should work with us to enhance those programs that uplift the status of our people.”

The Katikkiro underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting the health of all citizens and therefore will be glad to team up with the government in the health line. “We work with the government on HIV prevention where the Kabaka is the goodwill Ambassador appointed by the UNAID to fight the spread of HIV and eliminate it by 2030.”

Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, the Kingdom’s Minister of Information, and Owek. David Ntege, the Clerk of the Buganda Lukiiko, were also present.
