The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is ready and prepared to fulfil its pledges made to the people of Kasese and the region at large if their candidate is elected Member of Parliament for Busongora south in the upcoming by-election.

This was revealed by NRM’s communications director, Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, on Thursday as he addressed sections of party leaders from Busongora County south convened to assess their preparedness ahead of the said poll.

“The NRM party clearly understands issues and challenges affecting communities in this area. Our current manifesto is already handling them. I urge voters of Busongora to come out and support our candidate who will in turn lobby and remind government to deliver on its promises,” Hon. Dombo said as he responded to queries raised by some of the leaders in a meeting.

Local leaders raised a range of issues they demand to be fulfilled by government. These include; compensation of families who have lost persons and properties to stray wild animals in the nearby Rwenzori and Queen Elizabeth national parks, request for establishment of health centres and government secondary schools in hard-to-reach subcounties among other pledges previously made by government.

NRM Central Executive Committee member and incumbent Kasese district party chairman, Dr Chrispus Kiyonga, said the government of President Yoweri Museveni has a proven track record of leadership that is issue-based without dividing people on religious and tribal lines, hence making a clarion call to the people of Busongora south to vote a performer without relying on archaic considerations.

Former Minister Kiyonga also asked local leaders to get down to villages to explain government manifesto and also guide residents on the right choices to make during August, 18th polling day.

“I request the people of Busongora to cooperate with government by supporting the candidature of Mr. Thembo Gideon Mujungu, adding that by doing so, residents will better be served,” Dr. Kiyonga said.

Hon. Kambale Ferigo, the Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament on NRM ticket and also Mujungu’s campaign manager advised residents of Busongora to wisely cast their ballots in order to determine a better future of their communities.

“Your unique challenges can only be fast-tracked and resolved by President Museveni together with his government. Please empower your people in villages to challenge opposition elements who mislead the population,” Hon.Kambale advised, adding that locals cannot afford to miss out on an opportunity of working with the regime. .

Hon. Dombo who has been in Kasese district since Tuesday this week has held several meetings of sections of local leaders to enhance NRM’s political mobilization.

He will meet sections of leaders in the informal sector, members of constituency campaign taskforce among other groups as he concludes his engagements.
