Entebbe — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus has resolved to support the government’s budget priorities for the Financial Year 2026/2027 and to back the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025, following guidance from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during a meeting held at State House, Entebbe.

The Caucus endorsed key national priority areas outlined in the upcoming budget, including continued investment in peace and security, road infrastructure, electricity expansion, railway development, preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, and the promotion of scientific innovation to drive socio-economic transformation.

Members also supported government plans to implement restocking programmes in the Teso, Lango, and Acholi sub-regions, alongside salary enhancements for primary school teachers, secondary school arts teachers, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors, and personnel in the security sector.

In addition, the Caucus expressed support for the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025, pledging to back its passage once tabled in Parliament. Members noted that the proposed legislation is intended to safeguard Uganda’s national interests and strengthen institutional independence.

The resolutions were reached during a high-level meeting at State House Entebbe, where President Museveni guided discussions on the country’s medium-term development priorities and legislative agenda.

The Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to advancing government programmes aimed at improving service delivery, strengthening national sovereignty, and sustaining Uganda’s development trajectory.
