The Ghana delegation leading the Trans-Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign met with President Museveni on Monday to champion the call for a visa-free Africa as part of their four-day familiarisation visit.

In his remarks, President Museveni expressed strong support for the initiative, which seeks to promote unity, development, and collaboration across the continent through strategic tourism engagement.

The visit, taking place from 16–19 November 2025, highlights Uganda’s growing role in shaping continental tourism and cultural integration initiatives. Led by Mr Bismarck Nortei Annoo, Ms Susan Odella, and Mr Eric Agyei, the delegation comprises prominent advocates for enhanced African unity and cross-border tourism development.

During their visit, the team is engaging in high-level meetings, cultural excursions, and site visits to Uganda’s historical and heritage attractions to deepen collaboration and align strategies for Africa’s tourism growth.

“We are proud to provide strategic support throughout this visit to ensure alignment with Uganda’s tourism priorities and to strengthen continental partnerships that advance shared growth and collaboration,” said the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).

Delegation Calls for a Visa-Free Africa

As part of the visit, the delegation held a press conference in Kampala to advocate for a visa-free Africa, aimed at transforming intra-African travel and promoting continental unity. The Trans-Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign emphasises seamless mobility as a key driver of tourism-led growth and sustainable development.

Together with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, UTB reaffirmed Uganda’s strong support for the initiative, highlighting the country’s central role in advancing a competitive and unified African tourism narrative.

Uganda has positioned itself as a leading advocate for integration within the tourism sector. UTB officials emphasised that shared growth relies on stronger partnerships, harmonised policies, and collaborative initiatives.

The board expressed pride in providing strategic support throughout the delegation’s visit, which aligns with Uganda’s priorities of enhancing regional connectivity, promoting African heritage, and leveraging tourism as a vehicle for unity and economic transformation.

The delegation’s engagements will continue through 19 November, with expectations of joint communiqués and strengthened frameworks for collaboration across Africa’s tourism landscape.

The Trans-Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to fostering unity, development, and collaboration across the continent through strategic engagement in the tourism sector.
