Museveni Arrives in Arusha for 25th EAC Heads of State Summit

ARUSHA, TANZANIA — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, to take part in the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State.

The summit is being held under the theme “Deepening Integration for Improved Livelihoods of EAC Citizens.” It will bring together leaders from member states to discuss strategies aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, accelerating economic integration, and improving the welfare of citizens across the bloc.

Upon arrival in the northern Tanzanian city, President Museveni was received by a delegation of Tanzanian and Ugandan officials led by Patrobas Katambi and Dennis Londo.

Other officials present at the reception included Dr Samwel Shelukindo, Permanent Secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Amb. Mindi Kasiga; Robert Mbwasi, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Tanzania); John Mulimba; Fred Mwesigye; Anne Katusiime; and Ronald Bigirwa.

During the summit, regional leaders are expected to review progress made under key pillars of East African integration, including trade facilitation, infrastructure development, and economic transformation, while also addressing emerging regional priorities.

The meeting is also expected to consider initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and shared prosperity among member states of the East African Community.

President Museveni’s participation underscores Uganda’s continued commitment to advancing regional integration and strengthening cooperation among East African nations.
