FDC strongman and Kawempe lawmaker, Mubarak Munyagwa has said he doesn’t regret quitting the FDC presidential race, since is is well represented.

Munyangwa who was nominated in August 2017, for the party’s top seat alongside Maj Gen Mugisha, Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Moses Byamugisha, pulled out of the race midway the campaigning period and instead, called upon his supporters to rally behind Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

While speaking to Softpower at Mandela National stadium, Namboole today, Hon
Munyagwa didn’t show any remorse for the decision he took.

“Me and Hon. Amuriat had almost the same manifesto, why should both of us stand?”, asked motormouth Munyagwa.

He further lauded Mr. Oboi for his consistence with the defiance campaign.

“It’s only Hon. Oboi that can deliver FDC from the pit it is in now. FDC needs a vibrant man like him if Ugandans in opposition are to claim power from the NRM”, added the Kawempe legislator.

Many analysts predict a tight race between military trained Mugisha Muntu and Engineer Patrick Oboi Amuriat, whose political muscle is said to be Dr. Kiiza Besigye.

It’s 9:25pm now at Namboole but delegates are still casting votes, meaning that counting of ballots and declaration of the winner will happen later in the night.
