The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has intensified its presidential campaign trail, with party flagbearer Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu, urging Ugandans to embrace change and rallying fellow opposition leaders to unite in the quest to “retire President Yoweri Museveni”.
Speaking during recent campaign stops in the Ankole subregion, Muntu appealed for cooperation among opposition parties, saying infighting only weakens the collective struggle for democratic change.
“We must, as of necessity, cease attacks and blame games and focus on areas where we can cooperate and reinforce each other,” he said.
Muntu emphasised that while defeating the entrenched ruling establishment is a difficult task, it is not impossible. “It’s going to be hard, but it’s not insurmountable. We bank on the belief of many Ugandans whose desire has been to see a credible leadership in charge of our country,” he added.
The ANT campaign has in recent days covered Mitooma, Rubirizi, and Rwampara districts, where Muntu met with local residents, listened to their concerns, and outlined the party’s vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous Uganda.
Supporters in these areas turned out in large numbers, expressing gratitude for what they described as a message of hope and renewal.
“Our campaign is rooted in restoring hope, dignity, and the self-worth of our people. For too long, the spirit of Ugandans has been extensively crushed, but we are reawakening the remnants that remain to arise and reclaim our dignity, our voice, and our worth as a nation,” Muntu told gatherings.
Earlier, ANT officially launched its Presidential Fundraising Campaign, calling on supporters to make contributions—no matter how small—to sustain the movement.
“Every contribution counts. Any shilling in the bag can make a big difference in shaping the political trajectory and future of Uganda’s leadership,” the party said in a statement.
As the campaign heads deeper into western Uganda, ANT leaders reiterated their commitment to integrity, servant leadership, and shared prosperity.
“We are listening, we are learning, and we are sharing a vision of an Uganda where every citizen’s dignity truly matters,” Muntu said, promising to continue engaging citizens directly in their communities.
