The awards form part of the 13th Uganda Film Festival, which celebrates and promotes the growth of Uganda’s film and audio-visual industry.

Since the festival’s inception 13 years ago, MultiChoice has partnered with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to support the awards and advance the growth of the country’s creative industry.

In the Best TV Drama Series category, Damalie and Loving Beyond have both been nominated, recognising the productions’ contribution to Ugandan storytelling and television.

The nominations also recognise several actors whose performances have brought the two shows to life. In the Best Actress in a TV Drama Series category, Florence Nambusi (Loving Beyond) and Doreen Mirembe (Damalie) have been nominated.

Cinderella Sanyu Okuyo (Crossroads) also received recognition in the category.

Rukia Nalubega has earned a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama Series category for her role in Damalie, while Florence Iga Nambusi (Loving Beyond) is also nominated in the same category. Derrick Bakka has been nominated for Best Actor in a TV Drama Series for his performance in Damalie.

Commenting on the nominations, Hassan Saleh, the CEO at MultiChoice Uganda, said the recognitions reflect the value of sustained investment in local storytelling and the creative talent behind Ugandan productions.

“These nominations are a proud moment for MultiChoice Uganda and more importantly for the actors, writers, producers, directors and many other professionals who work behind the scenes to bring these stories to audiences.

Damalie,Loving Beyond and Cross Roads are examples of what can happen when we continue to invest in Ugandan talent and give local stories a platform to grow,” he said.

Saleh added that MultiChoice Uganda remains committed to investing in content that reflects the experiences, cultures and aspirations of Ugandan audiences while creating opportunities across the local creative industry.

“Our investment in local content is about more than producing television shows. It is about building an industry, supporting talent and creating opportunities for Ugandans to tell their own stories at a high standard. Recognition at the Uganda Film Festival is an important affirmation of the work being done across the sector and encourages us to continue investing in the people and productions that are shaping the future of Ugandan storytelling.”

MultiChoice Uganda has continued to support the growth of the local film and television sector through investments in original programming, partnerships and talent development initiatives.

Through its flagship channels of Pearl Magic and Pearl Magic Prime, the company has commissioned and licensed more than 25 local shows which have employed more than 3,000 Ugandans directly and indirectly.

The company’s local productions provide a platform for Ugandan actors, producers, writers and technical professionals while giving audiences access to stories that reflect their own communities and experiences.

The UFF Awards Gala will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at UICT Innovation Hub, Nakawa marking the culmination of the festival and celebrating achievements across Uganda’s growing film and television industry.
