President Museveni has said his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba should neither tweet about other countries nor the politics in Uganda.
The President was speaking during an interview with a Kenyan television channel KTN News which aired on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
He was asked about the recent gaffe in which Muhoozi tweeted saying he could capture the Kenyan capital Nairobi within 14 days if he so wished.
Following the outburst, Muhoozi was promoted to the rank of General but removed from his position as the Commander of UPDF Land Forces.
Pres. Yoweri Museveni: Gen Muhoozi is a very good officer in army things. If someone is good at something and makes a mistake in other things, how do you handle it?

Museveni said Muhoozi, who is the Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, is good at army things although he makes mistakes elsewhere.
“That General that you are talking about…Muhoozi is a very good officer in army things,” Museveni told KTN News.
“Because the army has got all sorts of problems…corruption…many of the armies are killed by corruption, stealing resources of the army, poor training and so on,” Museveni pointed, adding:
“So if somebody is good in something but makes a mistake in something else, how do you handle it?”
On October 13, 2022, Muhoozi tweeted an apology to the Kenyan President William Ruto.
I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto. If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. Godbless East Africa! pic.twitter.com/5LuzVabLKz

Before the matter of Kenya could subside, Muhoozi again tweeted on October 14, 2022, saying: “To the Ugandan opposition, after my father, I will defeat you badly in any election. Ugandans love me more than they’ll ever love you.”
The President said his son would be better off tweeting about sports and other thins which are not controversial.

“If he (Muhoozi) was tweeting on sports, and things which are not controversial, that would not have been a problem,” he pointed out.
He added: “But to talk about other countries or even the politics of Uganda, is what he should not do, and won’t do.”
According to the president, Africa has a lot of problems and tweeting is not the most serious problem.
“People are actually dying, not from tweeting, but from serious problems like hunger and insecurity,” he noted.
