MUBS Lifts Kenya International Woodball Championship Title

Nairobi, Kenya – Makerere University Business School (MUBS) emerged as the overall champions at the 6th Kenya International Open Woodball Championship. At the same time, Uganda’s Ministry of Public Service dominated both the women’s and corporate divisions, cementing Uganda’s status as a regional woodball powerhouse.

The three-day tournament, held from September 19 to 21 at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), brought together 15 top teams from Uganda and Kenya in stroke and fairway formats across singles, doubles, and team events.

MUBS Clinches Men’s Senior Titles

MUBS produced a commanding performance in the men’s senior category, winning most of the six major gold medals on offer.

Their victories included: Gold: Men’s stroke singles, stroke team, fairway team, and mixed doubles. Silver: Men’s stroke doubles, fairway doubles, and women’s stroke doubles, stroke team. Bronze: Men’s fairway singles, stroke singles, and women’s fairway singles.

Men’s captain Elvis Ntende praised his team’s consistency on the international stage, noting that the Nairobi championship provided the perfect comeback after MUBS missed defending the Taifa International Open title in July.

Public Service Sweeps Women’s, Corporate Divisions

Uganda’s Ministry of Public Service stole the show in the women’s events and went on to dominate the corporate category, completing a memorable double victory for the team.

The strong performances from both MUBS and the Ministry of Public Service highlighted Uganda’s growing depth in the sport and its dominance at the regional level.

Teams included: Technical University of Mombasa, Kampala University (Kenya), Mount Kenya University (A & B), Taifa WC, Hunters WC, Lukongeni WC, JKUAT, USIU, Ministry of Public Service (Uganda), University of Kisubi, MUBS, UNEB (Uganda), Alpha WC, and Zoe WC (Uganda).
