Two people have perished in a motor accident along the Kabale – Katuna Road.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning and Police reports that two people died on the spot. This followed a head-on collision between a speeding truck and two motorcycles.

The dead persons were both motorcycle riders.

According to the spokesperson for Police in Kigexi region, Elly Matte, the accident resulted from a head-on collision in which an approaching speeding truck Reg No UBD 676F rammed into two motor cycles near Rushoroza Health Centre 4 along Kabale Katuna road. This happened at around 8am in the morning.

Police has identified one of the deceased as Anthony Muhwezi, 25, a resident of Keitakombe village, Bushuro parish in Kitumba sub-county in Kabale district. Muhwezi was riding a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle Reg No UEL 198M.

Matte said that the identity of the second victim is not yet clear. He was riding a motorcycle Reg No UEM 036A also a Bajaj.

Police visited the scene and the bodies were taken to Kabale Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem while the motorcycles were taken to Kabale Police station.

The driver of the truck is said to have sped off after the incident.
