In her remarks, Justice Fatima Naziri Bwanika explained how the courts handle succession matters and the role of the judiciary in ensuring justice in the administration of estates.

She encouraged members of the public to openly raise their questions and concerns during the sensitisation session, assuring them that officials from the Ministry are here to serve them with practical assistance.

Several members of the public presented family disputes and estate-related matters for guidance, with ministry officials facilitating family mediation where applicable to promote amicable resolution of conflicts before they escalate into lengthy legal disputes.

Participants have also been sensitised on the dangers of fraud and exploitation by individuals who manipulate succession laws to unlawfully acquire other people’s property.

The public was urged to seek timely assistance from the Offices of the Administrator General, so far 12 in the country, and other relevant government offices whenever succession issues arise, instead of remaining silent or resorting to family conflicts and civil disputes.
