Mbarara: Man Strangles Sex Worker Dead, Reports Self to Police

Police in Mbarara have arrested a 52-year-old man for strangling to death a sex worker.

The suspect identified as Brian Kamusiime is a resident of Rwibare cell in Rutoma town council Kashari in Mbarara district.

According to Police spokesperson for Rwizi region, ASP Samson Kasasira, the suspect is alleged to have strangled to death a female identified as Scovia, a sex worker in Biharwe while the two were at One Love Guest House. The incident occurred on Friday night but Scovia’s body was discovered the following day on Saturday after authorities broke into the room.

The suspect told this website that he killed Scovia for stealing his money amounting to Shs 2m which he had saved to purchase a piece of land.

After the incident, Kamusiime reported himself to Police on Monday and is being charged of aggravated murder, according to ASP Kasasira.

Scovia’s body is still at Mbarara regional referral hospital pending postmortem.
