Justice Stephen Musota who heads the High Court Civil Division is the new judge to hear the matter in which Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago sued the government and KCCA for failure to pay him over Shs 500 million arising from illegal impeachment.
The matter was initially before Justice Patricia Basaza, however, a few days back she excused herself and the file was resent to Deputy Registrar of the High Court civil division, Sarah Langa who has forwarded it to Justice Stephen Musota.
On March 28, 2014, High Court Judge Lydia Mugambe delivered a ruling that reinstated Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago in office, five months after his controversial impeachment by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councilors.
Recenly, High court judge Justice Mugambe also ordered the KCCA, government and the Executive Director of Kampala city Jennifer Musisi to compensate Lukwago all the costs he incurred as a result of unlawful impeachment which is approximately Shs 562million.
But since then, the parties in the case failed to comply with courts order and it’s against this background that the Lord Mayor rushed to court seeking an injunction to have the parties urgently pay his emoluments.
The registrar has also gazetted December 20 as the hearing date for this matter.
