The Olympic champion now moves up to 5th on the 200m all-time list.

Letsile Tebogo delivered a stunning performance to win Paris 2024 men’s 200m gold on Thursday evening (8 August), shocking pre-race favourite Noah Lyles who ended the race in third.

The athlete from Botswana crossed the finish line in an African record of 19.46 to take top spot in a spectacular race in the Stade de France.

Lyles, who won the Olympic 100m title in dramatic fashion on Sunday, was not able to match the impressive pace of Tebogo and will now need to rely on the relays to fulfil his dreams of winning multiple gold medals a these Games.

Kenneth Bednarek of the USA won silver in 19.62 with Lyles taking bronze in 19.70.
